Why Calorie In/CalorieOut Does Not Work

When it comes to weight loss, "calorie in calorie out" is the advice we commonly get. It sounds reasonable, even logical, but why is it so hard to accomplish the weight loss goal with this model?  What we fail to realize is that the quality and property of the calorie we consume has a lot to do with why we can’t loose the weight. According to Chinese Medicine, the foods we eat have certain properties. To satisfy the body's needs a variety of foods should be eaten, if not, the body will not be satisfied and you brain will not get the signal telling you you already ate too much you need to stop eating. It will simply tell you to go get more food, hoping to find the missing nutrients the body needs. This is where the modern day diet goes wrong, we are eating too few varieties of food. A lot of the food we do eat are heavily processed. They are in no means resemble the diet our ancestors once had hundreds of thousands of years ago.
So if you want to lose weight, you should start by eating the right kind of foods. If you eat the right kind of foods that can meet your body's requirement, you will not feel hungry. In fact you will be down right uncomfortable trying to eat the last bite off of the plate once you are full.
According to Chinese Medicine, the reason we pack on so much weight in the first place has to do with the foods we eat do not match our body's internal condition. Extra food that can not be used by the body creates "dampness". In the early stage the dampness can be removed by eating the right kind of food, much like using a paper towel to soak up the spills on the table. However if the body has too much dampness built up, it will generate heat, same way a compost pile would. Then the "dampness" will turn to "phlegm",. it literally becomes a "hot mess". This hot mess will be very hard to remove. It will require a lot more time and efforts to clarify. When this cycle continues, it becomes harder and harder to lose weight.
